The idea about goal setting surge after reading about a Harvard goals study in 1980. About a decade later again I read about the Harvard study in the book “What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business School” written by Mark McCormack. It was like thing were falling into place. I began to think I should write such planner, something that can help us conquer our goals. Why not, me? During that time, I was very unhappy doing what I was doing anyway. The idea to write something had come to me around 1984 after searching for a book on how to organize, prioritize and set goals. I did find some basic agendas and planners but, not good enough. After not finding anything worthwhile I wrote and use my own for many years. So, I knew what I wanted to write about. I also knew I had to make a decision to create my own opportunity, if I really wanted more out of life.
· One day after finishing a remodeling job in the summer of 1995, in city of Hanford, California driving back home a daring thought came to me; “This kind of work is not what I want, I need something that I like and want to do, I should write.” I’d let go of all those things that were holding me from writing and simplified my way of living.
· So the idea to jump ship from building to writing was born. I kept thinking that it didn't matter what I did yesterday, that what matters is today and tomorrow.
· Being a dreamer, I shared my idea with some friends more or less what I wanted to write about, of course, most of them just chuckled right in front of me. I said that I wanted to use as the foundation the Benjamin Franklin daily routine ideas that Franklin suggested in his 1791 autobiography, together with the publicized Harvard goal study as an inspiration. Perhaps, they had a good reason, that it was a ridiculous idea.
