Once Upon a Time…
There was a village up in the mountains on the edge of the world.
People once thought that the Earth was flat, so as far as the villagers thought, they lived on the edge of the world.
Among the villagers there lived a boy whose existence didn’t matter as much to the other villagers.
The boy had to work for the only village blacksmith so he could survive.
The blacksmith had found him and fed him for years until he grew up to be old enough to work.
In that village you didn’t have to be very old to be able to work – it was an almost merciless place.
As the blacksmith had found him while he was still only a baby, he fed him and raised him poorly, only giving what he thought was enough.
His “enough†was very little.
Once the boy grew up, he had to pay off every meal he had under the blacksmith’s roof,
and as he also had to eat to gain the strength to be able to work, he could never repay his debt.
The old blacksmith wasn’t the best or the worst person in the village,
but the boy, Henry, didn’t have much choice except to stay with him........................
