Get Good or Die: and Other Stories

Get Good or Die and Other Stories contains fourteen short stories covering a wide range of time periods and subject matters. The time frame of the stories ranges from the 60’s to present day, and the settings include college towns (Eugene and Berkeley), the wilderness of Central Idaho, a small town in northern Vermont, Paris, Burgundy, New York City, and others.

In the title story, the narrator describes a risk-filled skiing trip made with fellow students in 1971 that ultimately generated a family motto, “Get Good or Die.”

River of No Return describes a steelhead fishing trip, deep in the Idaho wilderness on the Salmon River. It turns out to be a very different weekend than the narrator expected, requiring him to lead a female KGB agent out of the wilderness on foot while being pursued by assassins.

One Night in Vermont tells a tale of a mysterious evening spent by a young lawyer with three generations of witches in an old mansion in Vermont with consequences that he learns of decades later.
