Ethernet Matters . . .Issue 1: Intro to Ethernet in Content Creation and Distribution Facilities

Media and Entertainment Industry technical facilities used in production and distribution of content are in the early stages of migration from traditional Serial Digital Infrastructure to commercial-off-the-shelf commodity technology widely used in enterprise routing/switching hardware, software and services. Ethernet technology is a critical, but not very well understood piece of this transition. "Ethernet Matters . . ." is a series of several booklets designed to be used as a learning tool by individuals as part of a personal or classroom based study. While the series does not attempt to cover every last detail, it does focus on practical aspects of what the Enterprise IT Engineer needs to know about "Video" and What the "Video Engineer" needs to know about Ethernet to plan, design, and build products and systems used in next generation Networked Media Facilities.
