Description
What do monkeys, typewriters, and call centers have in common? Everything and nothing. The typing monkey refers to the front-line corporate grunt. This poor intrepid soul is routinely bound to a computer keyboard and cubicle without regard to race, sex, creed, or religion. This book, though fictitious by design, is an actual representation of the people I have worked with over the past twenty-plus years. The narrative was created solely for the purpose of presenting the urban call center culture in an entertaining way. Make no mistake. The way the people behave in this story is accurately represented. It should come as no surprise when I say the caliber of individuals filling customer service positions today continues to plummet across the board. In some respects, today's American call center resembles a loosely managed high school for ADHD adults. There were many days when I felt the need to soil my underwear or take long naps to fit into the daycare-like she-said he-said drama unfolding around my cubicle. "Call Center 101" is a not-so-subtle introduction to the people on the other side of that phone-call you just made and the real-life interactions that take place behind closed doors.
