Romance: Regency Romance: My Lady's Choice (Sweet Regency Romance) (Sweet Historical Regency Romance Short Stories)
Description
Lady Isobel’s prophecy about men of all levels coming to woo her proved to be true. Within a few hours of her father’s death, she was visited by more than a few of her neighbours, or rather, their sons and brothers, all trying to win her hand. When she was indisposed, or not yet down to breakfast, they would leave a pile of calling cards on the footman’s tray, day after day. When she finally agreed to meet with them, they would push themselves forward, or urge her to marry their son, their cousin, and so on. Each meeting seemed to drain Isobel more, so that she could be smiling when she left her chamber, but was almost frowning by the time she had reached the waiting room. There, landowners would press her to accept them, or propose some young man that had not even come to seek her hand himself. If London was promoting marriage as based on romance and emotion, then these greedy, insulting hordes were seeking the opposite of marriage. Instead, they seemed to want simply a union between fields, or a bond between titles.
