Description
This book provides a system for people to quickly learn to read the 2,136 Jooyoo Kanji.
The system uses phonic-mnemonics. The mnemonic aspect helps in remembering the meaning of the kanji; the phonic aspect helps in remembering the "on" reading of the kanji. Learning to read "on" readings is important because the great majority of Japanese compound words requires a knowledge of "on" readings. Also, some kanji have an "on" reading but no "kun" reading.
The body of the book lists each Jooyoo Kanji, its stroke count, the "on" reading, the "kun" reading, and the English definition.
Finally, the phonic-mnemonic is given. The phonic-mnemonic tells a story based upon the strokes of the kanji being broken down into easily remembered parts; these parts lead to the kanji's meaning and a reminder word for its "on" reading.
The kanji are grouped in a way that usually tells a continuous story that makes all the kanji easy to review and remember.
