The publisher encouraged me to write my story after “transgender” suddenly became a hot, “media darling” topic in the U.S. Due primarily to Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Jenner becoming Caitlyn, a transsexual, and the cult popularity of two television programs with transgender characters: Amazon’s “Transparent” and Netflix’s “Orange Is The New Black.”

He also calls this book a transgender romance, saying it's a different kind of contemporary romance, a fresh and original twist on teen & young adult contemporary romance, etc. All of which is true. I fell in love with Mr. G., no doubt about it.

The John Jay College of Criminal Justice recently conducted a comprehensive study of child prostitution in New York City, and based on actual in-person interviews with 392 prostitutes age 18 and under, came up with these shocking findings:
Almost half of the child prostitutes (45%) were boys, mostly doing sex work as girls! Their average age was 15.28 years. Only 8% of the youths had pimps; 90% said they were operating on their own; and 63% of the boys who identified themselves as t-girls (transgender girls) said they were introduced to prostitution by “friends.” Friends? What kind of friends?
