Wintermore (Aeon of Light Book 1)

Ancient magic lurks throughout the mystical forests of Vetlinue. Yet the world is in flux at the dawn of the industrial revolution as empires battle in the open and in the shadows, vying for their place in the new world order. New technologies clash with the blades and magic of old, and for thirteen-year-old Preta, life on the small island of Brenton at the far reaches of the mighty Republic of Iinia is peaceful, far away from the wars on the other side of the world. But on a cool fall day as Preta explores the forest near her home, everything changes, and she is thrust into an ancient magical cycle and grand political game that spans the entire world. The discovery of a boy on the run, an electrifying light, and an evil she can’t comprehend change her life forever. Peril lurks around every corner as the web of assassins who seek Preta's newfound light hunt her down without mercy. Preta must escape and grow up fast while figuring out the mystifying and deadly power emerging inside of her, or she just may lose herself along the way.
