The Ice Man

Although Don Patrick enjoys his job as a counselor for troubled adolescents, he can’t pass up the offer of a better salary in a different psychiatric unit. But this new unit is unlike any other on the State of Connecticut campus. This unit only houses one patient: the infamous serial killer, Eugene Walter Hickey. Hickey, who was dubbed The Ice Man by the media, killed five people in the same gruesome manner— an ice pick through the eye and into the brain. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity and remanded to the care of The State of Connecticut’s mental health system.
Don is startled to learn that Hickey, although they had never met, requested that he work in Dwight Hall. But he is more concerned by some cryptic statements Hickey makes. When one of these statements predicts a brutal murder in a nearby town, Don worries that Hickey is involved. When another statement is connected to a subsequent murder, Don has no doubt that Hickey knows about, and may even be orchestrating, these murders.
