In 2025, a damaged UFO of extraterrestrial origin is heading towards earth, which it's AI subsequently contacts earth about its crash landing. The contact itself, the crash, and the five years between the crash and shield fall causes socio-political changes on earth. Even before the crash, the UN has Created the UN Paramilitary Defense, or UNPD and the UN Scientific, Advance Technology and Expedition Discovery, or UNSATED for short.
Ultimately, The UN has created the United MicroNations, or UNM for short, and a virtual territory system to prevent these individuals and groups, officially called Micronations, from being a threat from the various Nations,national security. Despite the socio-political turmoil during this time, Humans managed to quickly advance.
One of the Micronations, the Republic of Y’didútstan, formed by four NYU graduates to preserve their cultural heritage, along side multiple other Micronations doing the same thing, and to pursue a peaceful co-existence with neighbor Micronations. However, within a year of Y’didútstan creation, they, and the nearby allied Micronations, got dragged into a religious virtual war, aptly name the First Virtual Religious War; which ultimately ended after a week after the UMN had intervened.
After six months of peace, one of the founding members past managed to catch up to her; which caused her founding members to act, which enviably caused another virtual war. The war itself forces the UN and UMN to intervene after Y’didútstan and their allied Micronations have found evidence that the UN and UMN couldn't ignore, only after a half of a day of fighting.
After that war ended and before the UN has launched a scientific expedition to mars, the United Earth Federation was formed with the UN at its political head, the UNPD as its Military Arm, UNSATED as the Scientific Arm, and the UN Peacekeepers as a relief aid and quasi-planetary defense and police Arm. Some Micronations joined the UEF but many joined as observers while others didn't join for one reason or another.
Little over 21 months later and after Y’didútstan has applied for a colony ship, members of Y’didútstan, including the four founders, leave earth and head to a planet that they have picked 200 light years away for colonization.
