One night, Lawrence wakes to the sound of growling coming from underneath his bed. With the help of mom’s cherry cupcakes, he lures out a little monster named Milo. They become great friends and, besides learning that monsters have a penchant for sweets, he discovers the existence of a place just for monsters. It is commonly believed that monsters like to eat little children and Lawrence is no exception. When Lawrence asks his best friend Phil for advice, Phil advises Lawrence to feed it some food. By chance, his mother happened to make her famous cherry cupcakes that night. Through a series of events, Lawrence befriends the monster under his bed, learns of a place that exists just for monsters, and finds out that monsters have a universal weakness for sweets.
