Description
This book explores the job satisfaction of administrative personnel and faculty members engaged in extension/distance education, within Christian institutions of higher learning in Africa; in light of their spirituality and work conditions. With the majority of world Christians living in the global south, studies to facilitate the effectiveness of training institutions are of paramount importance to Christian education leadership. Moreover, increased demand for higher education due to rising populations in Africa continues to demand the attention of educational leaders and administrators. Hence, distance education as one of such innovations has in the last decades been embraced by many institutions, including Christian higher education institutions. This has introduced numerous changes in the way education is administered and in the way instruction is delivered. These changes have not been without challenges, many of which affect the job satisfaction of personnel. For personnel in Christian higher education, the individual goals and institutional expectation to maintain spirituality attracts with it a higher responsibility than any ordinary learning context. The researcher therefore sought to investigate how the job satisfaction of faculty members and administrators of extension/distance education relates to their spirituality and work conditions. Findings of the study are helpful to stakeholders of Christian higher education. Leaders will receive insights on how to support and facilitate the job satisfaction of administrators and faculty of extension studies. Administrators will benefit with useful findings to assist them in coping and developing relevant competencies for enhancing their work. Faculty members will gain insights on their contribution to the success of innovative delivery and brace themselves to acquire necessary skills needed. Ultimately, findings of this study will facilitate productive collaboration of leaders, staff, and faculty members to advance Christian higher education in Africa.
