The Three Billy Goats Gruff

The story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff is an old Norwegian folk tale found in the collections of Asbjornsen & Moe in Norway. Patience and cunning are the heart of the lesson as we feel the effects of the bully, The Terrible Troll refuses passage with threats to those who try to cross the bridge. The reason to cross over is really of little importance but rather the cunning maneuvering of the forces used by the billy goats, as they organized their forces, then acted swiftly and decisively. Bam, the bully was gone and never seen again. Small children won’t understand this, but they do grow to understand that the Troll is a bully and the Big Billy Goat Gruff acts swiftly so that the smaller and weaker goats are able to enjoy the grass on the other side of the bridge.
