When the Light Went Out Book 1 (When the Lights Went Out Book 1)
Description
Brian McClain worked on the road as an Engineering Consultant. After the death of his wife, lost in grief, he spends much of his time working, leaving his family at home in Idaho.
While on assignment in Florida, the power goes out and an eerie Aurora Borealis fills the night sky, causing an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). The electronic systems on almost all newer machinery won't work, leaving millions of vehicles stranded, the Power Grid off line, and communications non-existent.
With no cell phones, radios unable to transmit or receive, and even short wave not working, civilization falls into disarray as people are left on their own, not knowing what was happening, or how long the blackout would last.
Meeting Jenny, a very attractive Marine Biologist, the two decide to join forces and within a few days with no power and no way to communicate or validate the rumors that are rampant, they decide to attempt to get home before they can no longer get fuel or food.
Witnessing the decay of morality all around them, they must fight to stay alive within a country turned upside down. Attempted robbery, shootings and chased by the drug cartel, they scramble to make it home, only to discover that it would only be the beginning of their excursion into the new reality.
They had no way of knowing, just how much their lives were going to change, or how difficult the journey would be, when the lights went out!
