The Japanese food cuisine is famous for its delicacy, taste, elegant looks, and health benefits. There is a famous village in Japan called Okinawa Island, where there are largest 100 years old people as compared to the whole world. One of the oldest ladies of the world belonging to Japan has declared that the reason of her long age is eating raw fish and sushi recipes. Most of the Japanese food is made up of rice, soup (generally called miso soup and other soups), and other dishes. Japanese people emphasise on the seasonal ingredients to make their dishes because they are healthy and easily available. There are also many kinds of side dishes in Japanese cuisine like fish, pickled vegetables, and vegetables smoked or cooked in broth. Fish is the most common ingredient in traditional cuisine and many Japanese dishes are also made up of raw fish. The most famous form of Japanese food having raw fishes are sashimi and sushi. Sushi is also famous for its tingling spicy taste throughout the world. One of the famous sushi recipes in the USA is California roll that does not contain raw fish. You can enjoy many of these sushi recipes at China town, but what if you want to prepare them at your home?
Sushi emerged from the Japanese cuisine as a famous dish and today it has been eaten in many regions of the globe. Many chefs have done some experiments with this Japanese dish and made up their own variation of sushi. Sushi is prepared by using raw fish like tuna or salmon. Raw fish gives sushi its chewy flavour and taste. Raw fish has many health benefits also. Tuna and salmon have a high amount of Omega-3 fatty acids that other natural vegetables are deprived of. Omega-3 fatty acids contain antioxidants; that are helpful to kill the free radicals inside our body responsible for ageing. However, raw fish is prohibited in many cases like a person suffering from diabetes, liver disease, or pregnant women. Raw fish contains more parasites and bacteria that are not good for the individual suffering from diabetes and liver disease. Some long lived larger fishes like swordfish and tuna have a heavy quantity of mercury that is not safe for pregnant adult females, nursing mothers, and young kids. So, if you are suffering from these diseases than you should consult your physician before eating raw fish sushi. You can kill the surplus quantity of bacteria and parasites by keeping the fish in deep freeze for some time.
If you are expecting to get a raw fish sushi, then buy them from an authorized sushi or sashimi grade fish suppliers. Many stockists don’t know how to keep the raw fish to make it dependable for preparing a raw fish sushi and if you purchase your fish from them, you should risk your health. Buy fishes that come from certified water and refrigerate them at once after purchasing them. Don’t preserve your fish for a long time in your refrigerator and use it within 48 hours. I would suggest you to prepare everything before taking out your fish from the refrigerator. Although sushi is the most famous and delicious Japanese dish throughout the world, but it needs lots of preparation and that’s why I have dedicated a separate section for sushi preparation in this book.
