"Not long ago, a friend of mine and two other girls in our class were called to a kindergarten class to help with an event. When my friend got to the class, he noticed a poster explaining the Zones of Regulation (a framework for fostering self-regulation and emotional control). The poster was the exact same one hanging in his grade 7th grade classroom. When he asked the kindergarten teacher about it, she said that her class was learning about the Zones of Regulation, as well.
Think about what this means. This means that your tax dollars are going towards teaching the same things to kindergartners and 7th graders. This is outrageous, and one of the many reasons I decided to write this book. Now imagine a man about to die, surrounded by his loving wife, and two kids. His last words?
"If only more money had gone towards this easily cured disease!"
*He dies*
"But you know, Zones, am I right?"
*he dies again*"

It has been said that the easiest way to solve a problem is to simply give up. But it has also been said that the Queen is secretly a lizard, so we should probably take these sayings with a grain of salt. Now, its no secret that we have a problem with our education system in North america. The real question however, is why?. We like to say that its the salaries, we like to say it's the lack motivation, we like to say its standardized testing, but in reality it's none of those, yet all of them combined. Its a fundamental flaw in the system that keeps us attached to old norms.
This book is not about how school "sucks." what it is about, however is educational innovations, educational insights, and most importantly the school system itself. In a word this book is honest. You wont like this book. you shouldn't like this book. I understand if you leave a once star review. This book is filled with a students impressions, jokes about teachers schools and society; this book is honest. You wont like this book after reading this, but everything that I've written in these pages is backed up by similar experiences from my friends and students across the country. No matter how ridiculous these stories may seem, they do happen.
