The Cold Shake

Danny Barlow's immediate goal after dropping out of college was to become a junkie on the Lower East Side, just like Lou Reed. Not the musician, songwriter, or poet, not those parts. Just the junkie part. After falling hard in love with the mysterious Varda, and with the needle, it did not end well, forcing him to flee back to his mundane life at school, much to his own humiliation. Now, five years later, he is back in the city, trying to ease into a quiet life of soft drugs and casual sex. But the past, and the girl who he thinks he betrayed, begin to intrude, forcing him to reexamine his every action and desire.
The Cold Shake is a pulpy, steamy, urban noir thriller of New York City in the dark ages of the 1970’s, full of sex, drugs, love, lust, revenge, murder, and surfing. Before there were multi-million dollar glass towers choking off Manhattan's seedy demimonde, there was The Cold Shake.
