Spectrum: Book One: The Dark Clad (preview)

Laithic (Laith) Aldan Hughes is one of the last remaining Dark Clad, and he is of a dying breed. Throughout the world, the remnants of a war have left many factions out in the cold, as new allegiances form that threaten the way of life for everyone. Oglebay, a man Laith calls "Merchant" due to his penchant for purchasing young women who can wield understrength, is in the process of assembling a new dictatorship that will preside over all. Yet Laith cares little for any of this--his only goal is to destroy the woman whom his life is bound to, a woman who is under Oglebay's control.

Throughout his travels, Laith will stumble into a dethroned queen, a woman who has been sapped by a mysterious force and can no longer speak but with her mind, and her ever-loyal knight, a man whose past life was dedicated to exterminating men of Laith's caliber. Events truly turn strange when the queen's power draws forth a strange creature named Lasnar, an entity who swears loyalty to Laith for no apparent reason.

Author's note: This is a lengthy preview for a series of books I have been working on for a very long time. I figure that, if people show enough interest in the preview, it will be worth publishing the series fully. There are many strange adventures to come for Laith, including assisting a man who claims to have traveled across space and time, and a town so mad they inaugurate their mayors only after they have survived three attempts on their lives. On his quest for Oglebay, Laith will have to determine which of his party can assist him along the way . . . and which of them might have to die.
