Description

When your inner voice speaks up you call it intuition or gut instinct. Mostly, it's just a feeling. But Lindsey Dawson was shocked one day when her inner voice came through as a stream of words from her own lips. Suddenly, she was channeling advice from an entity that labeled itself with the name of an ancient god.
"What!?" said Lindsey, as she scribbled things down. "Who, me? Why should a sensible, business-savvy grownup like me write something as crazy as this?".
Says Lindsey: "It was shocking, curious, strange, unsettling. But amazingly, not frightening. For someone who was swooping into what most people could call the fruitcake zone. I was feeling remarkably normal."
She gathered the insights into a book called Pearls, originally published by Tandem Press in English back in 2001 and also offered in Dutch and Italian translations.
Lindsey, a former magazine editor in her home country, New Zealand, and the author of eight books, says she's had more grateful feedback to Pearls than anything she's ever written.
Now, refreshed and with added content, it's on sale again as an ebook.
It's a small book that covers massive territory - full of kind, loving, wise advice about birth and death, the state of the planet, the good and bad sides of human ambition, the challenges we face in our lust for speed, and the importance of hope.
And woven through it are reminders of how Nature offers to us, all the time, evidence that can help us through tough times in our lives. Behold a peach, a tree, a snail, a praying mantis, a hawk, a loaf of bread, even some specks of dust, and you can learn new things about yourself and the world we live in.
Pearls concludes with advice on how you, too, can open up to your own higher wisdom.
Lindsey says, that as a trained writer, it was natural for her to use words, but others may get different confirmation that there's more to us than mere flesh and blood – through art, meditation, walking or in fact any activity that lifts you out of the daily grind and puts you into an enquiring and calm state of mind. "Enter quietness in any way that suits you," Lindsey writes. "Breathe. Be open. Listen, see, and trust. With luck and patience, you'll be both warmed and informed."
