Description
The Murder House: by James Patterson & David Ellis | Summary & Analysis
True to most of Patterson’s work, singly or in collaboration, it is a thrilling read, focusing on the commission of heinous crime and the pursuit and apprehension of the criminal. The extended treatment allows the authors to explore various writing styles and voices, resulting in a more compelling read. It offers readers a driving, engaging read that pleases through misdirection at several points; layers of meaning have to be untangled and are untangled, producing an effect of successive revelation that proves satisfying. Although a longer work than is usual for Patterson, the collaboration with Ellis works well and will no doubt be welcomed by long-time fans.
James Patterson and David Ellis’s novel, depicts the investigation of multiple murders in the normally quiet resort town of Bridgehampton, New York. A double-murder trial leads, thanks to the continued efforts of Jenna Murphy, to a related investigation of a long series of grisly killings with roots in the deep history of the town. Any number of false trails are seen and followed in the text before its final resolution, marking a showdown between the biological inheritor of the town’s sordid history and its spiritual heir – from which the former emerges in triumph and restored to full personhood as the latter ends up raving in jail. It is set primarily in Bridgehampton, as indicated by the sectional headings given throughout the text.
