We live only once, so we must make the best of it. We hear this quote frequently, but most of us never act on it. Although some believe there will be a second, or after, life, I cannot prove that I will live again after death or that there will be another life other than this one. Therefore, I must know how to live this one. Unfortunately, no one ever taught me how to live. Growing up, I did not think my parents knew how to live, and so I had to teach myself.
There is no magic script that works for all of us. As we live our lives, we must take time to review and evaluate our lives as led. Reflecting on our sorrows and joys, and even mundane activities, is not a burden, but a richly deserved duty to ourselves. I feel fortunate that my path, thus far into middle-age, has granted me wisdom and experience that may resonate with others.
