Deal Breaker

The gods of old are a shadow of what they once were, but they remain in our world, hidden in plain sight. Fleeting though their powers may be, they still possess enough to alter the course of mortal lives, if they have the inclination. Most would rather live their golden years away from the mortals that once worshipped them, and so the burden falls upon someone to act as an intermediary between gods and mortals. That someone is the Priest; a nameless man who has devoted his existence to the thankless task of brokering deals between the ancient divinity and everyday people.

With a young boy dying in the hospital, answering his father’s prayer to save his life seems like a no brainer. However after brokering several deals to save the child, the unthinkable has happened. Someone has reneged on their deal. Now with a young child’s life hanging in the balance the Priest will do anything to make the deal breaker carry out their end of the bargain. Even if it means going up against the gods themselves….
