Kannada Mahabharata: 01 Adi Parva 009 Hidimbavadha Parva

This is the 9th of the 100 Upa Parvas, located in the first of the 18 Maha Parvas of the original Vyasa Mahabharata. After escaping from the fire at Varanavata at night, the Pandavas enter a dense forest, where the Rakshasa Hidimba lived with his sister Hidimba. While Bhima was watching over his sleeping mother and brothers, Hidimba, sent by her brother to bring the human flesh for a meal, is carried away by the beauty and strength of the young Bhima. There is a terrible fight between Bhima and Rakshasa Hidimba, wherein the latter dies. The chapter ends with the marriage of Rakshasi Hidimba with Bhima and the birth of Ghatotkacha as well as the instruction by Vyasa that the Pandavas should live in disguise in Ekachakra.
