“Anyone who comes into my life will have to accept the fact that you will always be a part of my life.” Those were the words that my ex-husband used to say to me whenever we would discuss how the two of us saw our relationship going forward after the divorce. Even though we had been divorced for almost six years, had gone on vacations to Costa Rica and Napa Valley together, still enjoyed regular dinner and movie nights and I was even given the quasi girlfriend directive “you can come over my place anytime you want,” I remember thinking that although we weren’t able to make our marriage work after nearly 20 years of being together, I was secure in the strength of our friendship. I was secure in the undeniable spiritual bond we shared and just our overall connection as two people going through life together for nearly two decades and I knew that this man would always be there for me if I needed him. Nothing could have been further from the truth.“Chasing Fool’s Gold”, is a memoir chronicling the author’s life as the wife of a NFL football player and first lady of the South Beach night life scene- seemingly having it all- to an emotionally devastating divorce, working as a package handler at 47 years old -surviving being struck by a drunk driver to the subsequent discovery of a brain tumor. It is the story of her spiritual journey through some of the most difficult times in her life and how she credits God’s goodness, grace, mercy and His unfailing love for her survival. “Chasing Fool’s Gold” is a testament to how the Lord brought the author out of the fog of her delusional “reality” and into His ultimate plan and purpose for her life and the favor He showed her through it all. The journey is told in a real down to earth manner that the author hopes will leave its readers inspired and uplifted while promising to make them rethink their own “reality” and spiritual walk with God.
