North East England breeds them tough, but sometimes it’s hard for ten year old Joe to keep on top of it all. Looking after a borderline alcoholic mother, constant movement between homes and trying to keep one step ahead of a beating occupy a lot of your time. When a new threat moves into his life Joe finds himself with another lost soul to protect. Armed with only imagination, home-made gadgets and his best friend’s superior skills, a boy must overcome the harsh realities of an adult world.

Set against the heart-breaking grind of poverty and aggression, hope and heroism have to be grasped wherever they can be found.
