Description
The Hanuman Chalisa has Forty chaupais on lord Hanuman & is a sanatan dharma devotional stotra addressed to Shri Lord Hanuman.
It is traditionally believed to have been authored by 16th-century poet Tulsidas in the Awadhi language and is his best known text apart from the Ramcharitmanas.
Tulsidas is beleived to be born Born in 1532 (some say 1497 but this cannot be possible as he died in the year 1623) Tulsidas was invited by Mughal Emperor Akbar in his court to display his magical powers after hearing a lot about the poet from Khan-e-Khana Rahim and Toder Mal. When Tulsidas declined, he was imprisoned. It was during this time in prison Tulsi Das started writing Hanuman Chalisa.
It is said that on the 40th day, the entire Fatehpur Sikri was surrounded by giant monkeys. They even entered the palace premises and started hurting the guards. So much mess these animals created that someone advised Akbar to free Tulsidas. The moment Tulsidas was released, the monkeys went, clearly indicating that Lord Hanuman came to the rescue of Tulsidas.
Hanuman Chalisa Tells Us The Distance Between Earth & Sun !
When Hanuman was very young he flew from earth to the sky in the direction of the sun to eat it, assuming it to be a ripe, luscious fruit. Tulsidas while stating this incident in the chalisa in simple languages gives the distance between Earth and the Sun.
The Line is –
“Yug Sahastra Yojan Par Bhanu
Leeyo Taahi Madhur Phal Janu!â€
Meaning, sun is at the distance of yug shastra yojan. After, certain intellectuals decoded this famous line of Hanuman Chalisa by Tulsidas they could find the distance of earth and guess what? It is exactly the same as that discovered by scientist later. In the year 1653, astronomer Christiaan Huygens with his guesswork estimated the distance from earth to the sun.
However, since his work was a guess, he doesn’t get the credit. It is Giovanni Cassini who is named as the discoverer of the distance from earth to sun who gave a scientific study in the year 1673.
1 Yuga is 12000 years
1 Sahastra is 1000 years
1 Yojan is 8 miles
Yuga X Shastra X Bhanu is par Bhanu
12000 X 1000 X 8 = 96000000 miles
1 mile is 1.6 km
So, 96000000 X 1.6 = 1536000000 km
This is the exact round figure distance of earth from Sun on 3rd July because studies mention the distance of 152,093,481 km from earth to sun during the aphelion (The period when earth is farthest from the Sun)
