There are those who would practice religion to protect themselves from demons. In this book, that is not what is meant by religion. Such belief is shortsighted and misses the point. There are those who might see nothing but sweetness and light in religion and practice it with the purpose of celebrating life or nature. They cannot be faulted for these beliefs. But these views of religion fall short because they fail to consider the active role in relationship with God necessary to care for and preserve life on the planet. Without correct action, there will be no beautiful life, nor safe environment to celebrate in.
In The Book of Thomas, Jesus said I am the light that is above them all. I am the all. The all came from me and the all attained in me. Cleave a piece of wood I am there. Lift up a stone and you will find me there.
