These objectives will lead the dissertation on how the absenteeism has affected the current productivity levels within the hotel group and also the actions that the management has taken in order to reduce it.
The literature review has different components in this research. It will firstly give a brief introduction to the absenteeism and different perspectives of the authors who has described this area of study. Then the reasons for the staff absenteeism will be outlined typically related to the hospitality industry. The research will also include the motivational theories which relates to staff motivation and those theories will be relate to the staff absenteeism.
The dissertation is based on a mixed methodology of both qualitative as well as quantitative data where the staff of the hotel will be provided with questionnaires and five head managers of the hotel group will be interviewed in relation to staff absenteeism. The findings of this research will include information in related to why do the absenteeism rates are high and the perspective of the management in relation to that and also the views of the employees.
All the data collected will show in charts and tables about how the absenteeism has affected to the hotel’s business and also the reasons that has influenced it to increase. The conclusion part will directly focus on the current level of control on staff absenteeism by the management and the recommendation on future how the management can decrease absenteeism within the hotel group.
