Description
The design and construction of the fish pond recirculating system were carried out coupled with application of solar energy in the system. Specifications were made as to the number of solar panels to be used in line with the recirculating system capacity and the optimum angle of orientation of the solar panel array; the water pumping capacity required of the pump was also specified for pumping water to a pre-determined number of tanks to suit the fish pond recirculating system. The amount of solar energy incident upon the earth is somewhere on the order of 2000,000 x 102 Watts (J/sec) which is over 30,000 times man’s current needs for power. The reduced availability of electrical power supply in Nigeria may cripple major power demanding processes, if electrical power is solely relied upon. Hence, there is need to effectively utilize the overwhelming benefits provided by solar energy to mankind.
