Description
Freddy is like many college graduates. He is unemployed, broke, and forced to move back in with his parents. He travels back to Vancouver, WA, his sleepy hometown. His girlfriend of a year comes with him. Danielle is a beautiful and driven girl ready to transition from college into adulthood and start their life together.
Freddy is anxious about his job prospects and not sure he wants to stay in Vancouver for the rest of his life. Freddy’s love for Danielle is taxed by the grey malaise he feels back in the city he worked so hard to leave. Their strained relationship is tested further when Freddy develops a friendship with Danielle’s eighteen year-old friend Logan, a girl with so little parental involvement and so much money that meaningless shopping sprees and illegal bar runs are a daily occurrence.
Wasteland Road is a coming-of-age story following Freddy’s transition out of the last visage of youth, as he battles the boredom of an economically depressed suburb, his conflicting values with the woman he loves, and the temptation of a destructive friendship with a wild acquaintance. Wasteland Road exposes the pain, comedy, and occasional optimism of negotiating life in transition.
