Surviving Breast Cancer: A Physician's Experience with Treatments and Outcomes with her own Breast Cancer

This book is an account of my treatment for breast cancer. As I am a physician, I had more understanding of what to expect with the illness and treatments. I am providing information on my experiences and choices of treatments in order to help other women diagnosed with breast cancer, especially those who have just been recently diagnosed. I have also made it as understandable as possible for women who do not have a background in one of the healthcare professions. I believe that I have information that will be helpful for them in making their own decisions regarding their treatments for this difficult and frightening illness. Excellent treatments are available for breast cancer as well as all other cancers. I want to provide a brief account of the process of treatment and other lifestyle choices that will improve the chances of a good outcome. I want to provide support and hope to women facing this challenge in their lives. It is natural to feel initially overwhelmed and fearful when first diagnosed with cancer. I am hoping that my own story of my journey with breast cancer will help make the process of treatment more manageable for others. I hope this will allow them to engage with their physicians and other providers in an active participation in the decisions that will need to be made over the course of their treatments.
