Description
Everyday a Math Challenge /365 Brain teasers with Solutions is a collection of field-tested, graded mathematical problems. It aims to enrich the learners’ knowledge in math in an enjoyable manner in order to develop interest in the art of solving problems.
Target Users
This collection of problems has been prepared for students studying in classes VI to X. It is not based on any textbook content. However, they pertain to topics taught in math at schools, irrespective of the school curriculam.
Objectives
This book attempts to motivate them and instil interest in reluctant learners or slow learners through ABL (activity based learning) and student-friendly problems with self-explanatory solutions. This book also aims to provide interesting and challenging problems to talented learners to help them to develop a sound mathematical way of thinking.
Approach
Considering the academic load students already have, the learning is very comfortably paced at the rate of 1 mathematical problem each day, 31 problems in a month and 372 problems in a year. The book has the scope of being used as self-learning material as well as courseware on a formal learning programme.
Keeping in view of the range of learners the book targets, the problems in each chapter have been graded according to their difficulty level and have been divided into three levels.
Section A – Level 1 [ 10 questions for early level]
Section B – Level 2 [ 10 questions for mid level]
Section C – Level 3 [ 11 questions for challenge level ].
So each level has minimum 120 questions spread over the 12 chapters.
