After the killing, Derrick, Q, and Kate undertake a dangerous mission. They must cross miles of forests, wastelands, and areas clear of anything resembling the old form of society. Roving packs of madmen search for people to kill…and eat, while a dangerous regiment of hunter-gatherers masses nearby, intent on taking instead of building.
Before the killing, Derrick was your average American. He didn’t know how to trap and skin animals, couldn’t shoot a gun, and didn’t know how to find potable water. Along the way, he’s learned a few things, including the world’s most important lesson: killing is ugly but sometimes necessary.
After the killing, Derrick is a changed man. His survivalist mentor, Q, knows everything there is to know about hunting and tracking. The newest member of their group, Kate, is pretty good herself.
But with a fascist militia circling and a pack of cannibals threatening, will Derrick’s plan work? Or will it just put the three of them in greater jeopardy?
