Beyond Citadel

Jacob has been groomed his whole life to succeed his father as High Minister of Citadel, the last of the walled cities that rose from the ashes of the Cloud Wars. Beyond the high walls lies the Fallow, a dangerous wasteland. But life is not easy in Citadel either, where the fearsome Blackboots maintain a strict law and order. Citadeleans aren’t complaining, however, because only within her walls is the Dome, a marvel of engineering that purifies the toxic waters flowing in from the White Mountains. When Jacob's father is found dead and he’s accused of his murder, Jacob escapes into the Fallow, where all the terrifying tales of savagery are confirmed. Jacob must now accomplish the impossible and break back into Citadel. With new friends and allies at his side, the entitled boy born into privilege must transform into a young man poised to lead Citadel into a new and brighter future.
