In this 17th book in the series, Ralph and Katie are once again embroiled in murder and mayhem as they make their way around the world on their sailboat, Gypsy Lady. In New Zealand, they meet up with their friends Lance and Cynthia, where Lance has become unwittingly involved a murder involving one of his students. As if that were not enough to keep the dynamic duo busy, they find themselves embroiled with an eclectic group of ‘hackers’ who get more than they bargained for when they ‘poke the bear’, a Chinese Triad who have expanded their interests from prostitution and drugs to cyber-crime. The fast moving story takes the reader from the rugged countryside of New Zealand’s South Island to the city of Sydney, Australia with its warm sunny beaches and famous Opera House, and on to Shanghai. As always, Ralph is on the side of the ordinary guy trying to fight powerful criminal groups against the backdrop of the ongoing struggle between America, China and Russia for dominance in world trade. As always, Thurbin provides a well written and meticulously researched adventure that will have Ralph Chalmers fans clamoring for more.
