When I told the people at work that I passed Level One, they didn't believe me and made me call the CFA Institute to verify. It was humiliating.
When I was taking Level 2, I was working at another company. The people at that company actually bet against me passing. But I passed.
So what I'm saying to all of you is this. If I can come from nothing, no financial schooling or even work experience, with the whole world trying to discourage me, and despite all these odds I managed to pass, you can do it, too! I am a CFA ® charterholder and I have practiced investment management for ten years, both working for buy side firms and also as an entrepreneur who created her own firm, Grillo Investment Management. This book is going to explain to you how I progressed in the investment management industry and how you can do it, too. It will cover everything from how to pass the CFA exam to how to get your first job in investment management, and also a little bit of advice about the practice of investing and managing money for other people.
