Darpan

"Maryam 'Gazala' (1939-2011), a poet and writer was born in Gujarat and brought up in Mumbai. Poetry was her deepest passion and she wrote prolifically in Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati and English. She transcended the formal rules of language and had a voice uniquely her own.
Some landmarks of her literary journey:
--- Her poems are taught in the high school Hindi curriculum of Maharashtra, India.
--- Hindi Sahitya Academy, Gujarat award for the anthology ""Kshitij ki Dehleez Par""
--- Published in publications like Mumbai Samachar, Hind Mata, Shair, Qitaab, Janma Bhoomi, Poetry, Tamanna, Uddesh, Daily Hindi Milap, Samvad Setu, Golconda Darpan, The Fauzan, Yashobhumi among others.
--- 'Gazala' also regularly recited her ghazals on All India Radio in her own voice
--- Appearance in many 'mushaira' (poetic gatherings) on popular TV channels like Sadhana TV"
