Description
"The Case" is the supposed transcript of "String Theory" on trial. In this highly entertaining short story, an all star cast of witnesses and experts including Albert Einstein, Paul Dirac and Richard Feynman are called upon by the Prosecution and the Defence to stand before a jury of normal (ie not mathematicians or theoretical physicists) and play out in a highly engaging manner the, at times, passionate debate that has raged in real life between String Theory's proponents and its adversaries. The short story is extremely well researched and the witness statements as well as the debate between the two legal teams is set in a court room established at The Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton. Recommended for anyone who is either engaged in the field or who wants to learn a bit more but is put off by the maths. Written in an openly accessible manner but without intellectual compromise the short story is balanced between on both sides and before you know it, the reader takes the place of a dispassionate juror who, by the end of the story is ready to vote - Guilty or Not Guilty
