Description
Rain pelted aluminum siding, stinging it like salt in an open wound. It was night. It was dark. As for me sitting in my rocking chair, candles lit due to the power outage, the darkness was a familiar companion. It was always nearby. It stood at the foot of my bed when I awakened in the morning after tossing and turning for eight hours. The least it could do was bring me coffee.
