Claire Jackson is a native of the State of Colorado and hails from a family that spends every single day fighting abject poverty. Her father is a worthless individual who spends whatever little money that she and her mother brings home on his daily quota of alcohol.

One night things go out of hand when the old man returns home in a completely inebriated state and unleashes misdirected fury on his wife. Claire steps in to protest and hits her father hard across his head. As he collapses to the floor in a bundle, the young woman thinks that he is dead. She gets scared and runs away from the farm.

After spending three long days out in the hot, dry environment of Colorado State, she finally comes across a cattle ranch on the outskirts of a small town. The owner of the ranch thinks she is a useful person and employs her to take care of all chores around the place. And it is at this ranch that Claire Jackson finds someone who sets sparks flying in her heart.
