Description
This book offers a speculative biology view on different aspects of the wildlife in fantasy and science fiction worlds. It contains both general guidelines toward creation of biologically plausible worlds, explained by some examples of my own and discussion on existing books, films and video games. Different aspects of biology, starting from biological diversity, biological adaptation, parasitism and encompassing biochemistry, agriculture and magic are covered in sixteen chapters. Most of the discussed fiction works are cited, while for most of the actual biological principles and facts could be found in Wikipedia and therefore are not cited. There are no pictures included as the authors specialty is biology and particularly biochemistry and not drawing.
