In the Shadow of The Fox: The WWII Odysseus of a Nebraska Farmboy

A Nebraska Farm boy, John Krauss, travels to the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. He enters medical college and two years later the Gestapo approaches him to be a spy back in America. When he refuses, he is drafted into the German army and eventually is assigned to Field Marshall Erwin "The Desert Fox" Rommel. When the Afrika Korps surrenders to the Allies, they are shipped to America to be interned in POW camps. John is placed in an Iowa POW camp, but quickly figures out a way to escape and return to his native Broken Bow, Nebraska, som 150 miles away. Then, the fun begins.
