The Great Deception of the Mandela Effect (English Edition)

What exactly are we discussing when we talk about the Mandella Effect? Many people have never heard of the term, or if they have they discounted it as some sort of urban legend or perhaps even early symptoms of dementia. yet many, perhaps half the population have experienced some form of this admittedly bizarre effect. Others live their life totally unaware of the changes perceived by those affected. The term “Mandella Effect” was coined by Fiona Broome to label instances of large numbers of people apparently misremembering settled events in history. She coined the term Mandella Effect, for the reason that very many people will swear that they remember Nelson Mandella dying in prison in the 1990's and not living to become the president of South Africa. Obviously, most people remember and accept Nelson Mandella as a major player in world history and know that he survived prison to become President of South Africa and along with F. W. De Klerk brought an end to apartheid. But what exactly is the Mandela Effect? “The Mandela effect is the observed phenomenon of people having clear memories of events that did not occur or misremembering significant events and facts.” Snopes defines it succinctly as “The Mandela Effect is a collective misremembering of a fact or event.”. Certainly clear and concise, but does that really explain what is being experienced by millions if not billions of people around the world?
