Must be a million men camped here. We got more campfires here than stars. Morgan sat, mesmerized by the points of light arrayed arround him. Each bit of fire, be it candle, lantern or campfire, meant that a man or more was near.
Million? You kiddin , right? Look up in the sky there s more stars up there than you an me can count in a hundred years. Nattie was attending a small fire to heat their paltry rations.
Maybe I exagerated some, but you believe that Grant s got a 100,000 man army here?
More like 80,000 s what I heard.
An the rebs got 80,000 nearby.
Corinth, 20 miles down the road. We supposed to get trained by Sherman then have a fight. Nathanial told him
What r the rebs goin to do while we march around an port arms, whistle Dixie? Whatever they do I sure as hell want them to do it in Corinth while we relax some. Morgan replied.
Relax my ass. If Grant don t march us to Corinth, the rebs will come down here. Believe you me.
