In the small town neighborhood where Piper and Eloise live nothing much happens. Coming of age in the 1950’s consists of school, chores, jump rope and playing outdoors.
Their only problem seems to be the neighborhood bully, Phillip. No one likes him, and everyone is afraid of him. Most kids give him a wide berth but even when he retaliates against any of them in his own cruel and sadistic way, nothing ever happens, because Phillip’s Dad happens to be the Chief of Police.
Before the summer is over, all the children will learn harsh lessons about retribution, mob mentality and conscience…
And more than one of them will die.
