Bacopa monnieri, commonly known as water hyssop, is an herb often used in Ayurveda. Supplementing with Bacopa has been shown to improve cognition by means of reducing anxiety. It also increasing the growth of nerve endings, called dendrites and may enhance memory. The anti-anxiety effects may be felt acutely. However, studies have shown an improvement in memory to occur after 6-12 weeks of regular use. Improvements were much greater 12 weeks in than they were 6 weeks in. It is recommended that a dose of 900mg of the 20% extract is taken each day.
