Jillian knows by serendipitous fate she’ll meet her true love three times before dating him. After one encounter with firefighter Jak Finlayson, she can’t wait for more, and is tempted to give up on fate and go find him.

Jak would give anything to run into Jillian again, but she remains as elusive as smoke. When a mysterious old woman shows up at the fire station with a fruitcake and a Christmas promise just for him, it restores his faith that he might find love by Christmas.

With Jillian graduating college and moving back home, and Jak considering firefighting on a national level, time might run out on both of their Christmas miracles. Will they trust God and fate, or cheat their prophecies and risk losing out forever?
