The case is made more surreal as thousands of crows line the streets at various murder scenes, and five crows begin following her during her investigation in an effort to help Billie solve the most complicated case she has ever tackled.

She and her new boyfriend explore Portland’s lost Shanghai tunnels while trying to save another potential victim who has gotten too close to the truth. But death follows her underground where even the crows can’t help her.
