Crows are being murdered in the streets of Portland. and P.I. Billie Bly has been hired by the Audubon Society to investigate the poisonings. Soon, people begin convulsing and dying in the same manner and locations the crows were killed.

The police have a suspect, but Billie is hired to disprove them. The case is made more surreal as thousands of crows line the streets at various murder scenes, and five crows begin following her during her investigation in an effort to help Billie solve the most complicated case she has ever tackled.

She and her new boyfriend explore Portland’s lost Shanghai tunnels while trying to save another potential victim who has gotten too close to the truth. But death follows her underground where even the crows can’t help her.
